The Plane of Banishment was an ancient prison world created by the Champion of the Titans to hold all the demon souls he killed. Later he discovered a dreadful sight of eldritch beings from the edges of their universe infecting worlds with their monstrous aberrations and learned of their origins of how the outer gods from The Void had sent these creatures into the universe. To infect a world that could contain a Titan’s soul and, if succeeded, this corruption would become twisted into an unimaginable being of darkness that not even The Pantheon of the Titans fight. Enraged and afraid, Champion cleaved the planet in two. He would report the events to his kind only to chastise and condemn him for his rash actions as they believed there could have been a different choice to prevent the demise of their unborn brethren.

Fear, doubt, and despair overwhelmed the Champion in his contemplation of what transpired and what may come until he concluded that eradicating all life in the universe would be mercy from the outer gods. He knew he would need an army to complete this task, so he traveled to The Plane of Banishment and instantly shattered the prison world. This act unleashed countless demonic creatures into the universe and created an explosion powerful to warp his form into a being of blistering hatred. What transpired marked in history when The First Demon Lord was born.

The unleashed demons were presented with a choice as the First Demon Lord made his proclamation towards their kind. Join him or die. With these choices, the demons chose the former and began the birth of the Legion. The ruined Plane of Banishment would be renamed The Shattered Abyss and later became a stronghold for a Brood Queen to safeguard a keystone device that can open the portals to all conquered demonic worlds.

Present day, Zevrad and an elite group of demon hunters are sent on a mission to retrieve the keystone that would give them the means to assault the world that held the structural command of the Legion. Unfortunately, in their fear and ignorance, the adventurers and mortals who traveled to the alien realm from their home world had gathered an army to assault the Demon Hunter headquarters and stop them from their plans. Recent events from the third invasion of their home world had prevented them from seeing the noble sacrifice the Demon Hunters make and instead see them as monstrous beings corrupted by the Legion.

Time was short, and in his haste, the lord of the Demon Hunters used most of his powers to conjure a portal to allow his elite followers to travel to where the keystone was. This unexpected arrival of The Demon Hunters gave them the element of surprise, increasing their odds of success.

During the battle against the Legion, Zevrad became unhinged as he showed his prowess for the first time at The Shattered Abyss. From the bestowed gifts of the Angel and protection from his Mask, he crushed the opposition with terrible might and speed. And with each demon slain, he gained their memories, knowledge, and abilities as he devoured their souls.

It was at a sacred and secured site of the Legion where Zevrad discovered a book containing a secret demonic technique, but only one person could use it. With the most enhanced analytical abilities and its founder, The Demon Hunters proposed that Zevrad would be the one to unlock its secrets. The tome revealed the method for a Demon Hunter to become stronger as they could learn a powerful ability that would change their physiology and enhance their demonic powers for a brief period. The metamorphosis.

Zevrad had an idea and used his mastery of the soul to connect his essence with five people to give them knowledge within a few minutes. Out of the five people, only one met their end due to the backlash since they determined that a solid foundation is required before a person could use this advanced technique.

After regrouping and forming an outpost, Zevrad and the elite Demon Hunters traveled to the command chamber of the stronghold, where they would face the Brood Mother and take the keystone. With time against them, the team split their forces. Most of them fought against the demoness, whereas the others would prepare to conjure a portal so they could quickly return to their besieged headquarters and help defend their lord. Empowered by their newly acquired metamorphosis, they succeeded and took the keystone to invoke its power, infused by otherworldly energies, to create a portal back to their lord.

Unfortunately, the Demon Hunters arrived too late as the corpse of their lord, the first Demon Hunter, was encased in a crystal prison by The Watchers. Elite police officers who serve as jailors and marshals of the Elven society. In their fury, the Demon Hunters attacked The Watchers but were quickly subdued and imprisoned within the same crystal prison as their master.
