The One or The Other
The One or The Other
Zevrad Stargazer awakens from dreaming of the past after being in a coma caused by the ritual of fusing a demon's soul into his existence. Afterward, he trains and hones his abilities by using fire and pain as his drive to redirect the damage he suffered back toward the enemies while inflicting considerable amounts of pain while defending himself and his allies from harm. He later learned how to weather the damage caused by his enemies by cleaving fragments of their souls for Zevrad to consume, which will restore vitality and self-healing for survivability while using sigils used to harm a group of enemies while inflicting confusion and impairment.
During the three months of Zevrad's training, the rest of the Demon Hunters had invaded a world occupied by an elite race of demons known to infiltrate and spy on different realms. It was there that the demons stored most of their valuable knowledge and artifacts. One notable item was a key in finding and destroying the demon's realm of operation.
Their leader revealed how demonic creatures killed will reincarnate as they are an eternal existence unless they die within their realm or an area corrupted by their demonic energies and how he intends to lead his army to invade and annihilate the demon's command structure. Later, an attempt by the Lord to have his soul visit the demon's realm as reconnaissance but met with an Angelic Being of Light who informs him of a prophecy on how he would be instrumental in fighting the demonic creatures and the dark corruption from the outer realms. The Angel also tells The Demon Hunter how he will be the one to transcend death, and the continuation of his path will lead to victory against the Demons and Void.
At the same time, after Zevrad gained proficiency in his abilities, he joined an expeditionary party of experienced Demon Hunters to investigate an ancient and spiritual site formed by a fallen star that had crash-landed and created a crystallized monument eons ago. This landmark would later become a gathering of Orcs that would celebrate the coming of spring and autumn as they communed with the spirits. Lately, eerie and malicious energies have seeped from beneath the land where Orcs would lose themselves to madness.
The expeditionary party traveled deep beneath the monument only to discover the energies from a tomb perceived by their spectral sight. But in doing so had caused them to become deranged with illusions from the malicious intent. Zevrad would've succumbed to the same madness were it not for a mask that had manifested to protect him. Allowing him to see a clearer picture as it showed him the story of the Fallen Angel and the emotions they felt as they fell.
Weakened and helpless, The Angel felt confused, sorrowful, and regretful of its situation to despair until a lone and curious Orc Shaman traveled to where they had fallen. Seeing this weakened creature, the Shaman did what they could to ease the creature's suffering as much as possible. This kind act formed an unimaginable friendship between the two, and soon, a group of Orcs traveled to the site as they also took care of the Angel. The divine appreciated their hospitality and returned their favor as they used their energies to heal their illnesses and make their lands flourish.
What became a group eventually became a multitude of clans from across the realm, but time passed, and so did their friend. The Angel continued to see to generations of Orcs and took care of them as best as they could, but the passage of time and the constant death of their friends grew a deep sadness within them. Eventually, their divine energies emptied, only to be replaced by the manifestation of a dark one.
The Orcs retaliated to this unexpected event as they sealed The Angel and placed a tomb of reverence over the seal to honor their past deeds. However, this only abated the effects as the malicious intent is now seeping into the lands beyond the crypt.
Zevrad understood. He saw the Angel. Their sadness and loneliness. And so, he did what he could for them.
He ended their story, and they loved him for it.
